Farm and agriculture

Vacation at the organic winery in Kaltern am See in the South of South Tyrol

The Rainer family has been settled in Kaltern for generations, deeply involved in viticulture and fruit cultivation. The transition from integrated farming to an certified organic farm was a gradual process spanning many years, culminating in the entire agricultural enterprise receiving organic certification in 2017.

They also experiment with various aspects of biodynamic farming, such as utilizing composts and employing different biodynamic preparations.

Immerse yourself in these agricultural processes and experience the seasonal changes of nature during your vacation with us.

At first, it was the fear of something new, something unfamiliar, and the worry of failure. Overcoming this fear and gradually approaching the new challenges inherent in organic farming brought both successes and sometimes failures. It’s a constant accumulation of experiences and learning. It’s a process that will never cease.

What is grown here?

The primary pillars of the farm are the typical South Tyrolean cultivation of wine and apples.

Additionally, they produce various fruits such as pears, nectarines, apricots, persimmons, and blueberries. The farm also engages in vegetable cultivation for self-sufficiency purposes.

The wine cellar

The wine cellar houses countless bottles of wine collected from around the world. Additionally, each year, a new treasure emerges and matures from our own vineyards. Wine tastings or barrel tastings can be conducted here.

The farm shop

All the farm’s products can of course also be purchased or taken home as souvenirs, and somecan even be enjoyed right here, such as fruit preserves, wines, juices, syrups, salts and much more.

The animals on the farm

At the farm, curious guinea pigs, cheerful chickens, playful cats, and gentle rabbits frolic around—a diverse and enchanting animal community that delights both young and old. Interacting with these animals not only fosters a deep connection to nature but also creates unforgettable moments of joy and closeness.
